1921			First vaccine for diphtheria	Dr. Banting presents a paper entitled 'The Beneficial Influences of Certain Pancreatic Extracts on Pancreatic Diabetes', summarizing his work to this point at a session of the American Physiological Society at Yale University. Among the attendees are Allen and Joslin. Little praise or congratulation is received.
1922		Rickets : Elmer V. McCollum destroys vitamin A in cod liver oil and shows that the separate antirachitic substance remains. He calls the newly identified substance "vitamin D."
1923			The first successful vaccine for diphtheria was developed in 1923

1927		Rickets : Adolf Windaus, O. Rosenheim, and T. A. Webster deduce that ergosterol is the likely parent substance of vitamin D in food.	First vaccine for tuberculosis
