1931   Rickets : F. A. Askew defines the chemical makeup of the form of vitamin D found in irradiated foods (now called ergocalciferol), derived from the precursor molecule ergosterol.              
1932   First vaccine for yellow fever        
1933          
1934   An antimalarial compound called Resochin, belonging to the 4-amino quinoline group of chemicals, was developed by a German pharmaceutical company. A similar compound called Sontochin was later produced.        
1935          
1936   Rickets : Windaus deduces the chemical structure of vitamin D3 produced in the skin (now known as cholecalciferol) and identifies the structure of its parent molecule, 7-dehydrocholesterol.        
1937 In 1937, a woman in Uganda running a high fever was the first person diagnosed with West Nile virus First vaccine for typhus        
1938          
1939   Sterne reported the development of an animal vaccine from the spore suspension of an avirulent, noncapsulated live strain of Bacillus anthralis        
1940   Chloroquine the first synthetic anti-malarial drug was used
